The Story Behind Salted Butterscotch Rice Krispies
After we moved back from Portugal, it took me quite some time to feel settled and ready for baking again. It’s a lot of work to move, and it always takes what seems like forever to get my kitchen stocked with all of the essentials.
To be honest, I didn’t feel like I had much inspiration. Since I had a lack of inspiration, I didn’t feel up to baking much. However, that changed really quickly after a visit to my home that included a plate of yummy rice krispie treats.
It’s tradition in my church, that the leaders of the Relief Society visit new move-ins and get to know them a bit. I always look forward to that visit as it’s a great excuse to sit and chat with women. One new friend, Andrea, made sure to bring a treat along! If you have been around here long enough, you know I have a soft spot for any type of rice krispie treats. I just love the taste and ease of this no-bake dessert.
My new friend, Andrea, made me a plate of seven salted butterscotch rice krispies. I think I was supposed to share with my family since there are seven of us, but I’m pretty sure I ate over half of them. I told you I had a soft spot for them!
The very next day I made sure to ask for the recipe and permission to share this recipe with all of you. Luckily, she obliged. The recipe comes with the heading “Pizza Jerk Butterscotch Browned Butter and Sea Salt Rice Krispy Treat Recipe.” Maybe you guys have heard of this place, but I haven’t! Surely it’s good if they have these on the menu. If this is the legit recipe from Pizza Jerk, I’m not sure. However, I’m sure that you are going to love this recipe and that it will become one of your favorite no-bake desserts to whip up for guests and parties.

Ingredents Needed to Make Salted Butterscotch Rice Krispies
- Rice Krispy Cereal – I find that the off brand and name brand are pretty equal and always tend to choose the cheaper option.
- Butter – This recipe will use browned butter, but start with salted butter.
- Butterscotch Chips – I highly suggest buying the Nestle brand of butterscotch chips. I think the off brand tastes nasty and is weirdly spicy.
- Mini Marshamallows – This is a super marshamallowy recipe, so make sure to have two 10 oz. bags on hand.
- Jacobson salt- This is a high quality flake salt that can be found here. If you aren’t able to find Jacobson salt, Maldon salt would be a great second choice.
