Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

Thank you for being part of the Baking It Beautiful community ("we," "us," "our"). We care about your privacy, and this policy explains plainly what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email us anytime at hello@bakingitbeautiful.com.

This policy covers our website at https://bakingitbeautiful.com (the "Website") and what happens when you read our posts, leave a comment, or subscribe to our newsletter. If you don't agree with this policy, please stop using the Website.

1. The short version

  • We collect your email if you subscribe, and your name and email if you comment.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand how the Website is used, and Google AdSense to show ads. Both rely on cookies.
  • You control analytics and advertising cookies. If you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, these cookies stay off until you consent through our consent prompt. Everywhere else (including the US), they're on by default and you can turn them off anytime from the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as an opt-out of advertising cookies.
  • We don't sell your personal information for money.
  • You can unsubscribe, or ask us to delete your information, at any time.

The rest of this policy fills in the details.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Newsletter — when you subscribe, we collect your email address. We store this in our own database.
  • Comments — when you leave a comment, we collect the name and email address you enter. Your name and comment are shown publicly; your email address is not published.
  • Contact — if you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include.

We only collect this when you choose to give it.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, some technical information is collected — your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and the dates and times of your visits. This helps us keep the Website secure and running well, protect against spam and abuse, and (once you consent) understand how the Website is used.

Comment spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

To keep bots and spam out of our comments, we use Cloudflare Turnstile. When you submit a comment, Turnstile checks technical signals from your browser to confirm you're a real person. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf under its privacy policy.

3. Cookies and your consent

We and our analytics and advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies. Here's how we handle them:

  • Necessary cookies keep the Website working — for example, remembering your cookie choice. These are always on.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies power Google Analytics and Google AdSense. You choose whether they run, and where you are decides the default:
  • In the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, they stay off until you consent. We ask first through a certified consent prompt, and until you agree, Google's tools run in a limited, cookieless mode — no cookies stored, no personalized-ad data shared.
  • Everywhere else (including the US), they're on by default. You can turn them off anytime from the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer.
  • Either way, your choice is remembered and you can change it anytime from Your Privacy Choices — no need to clear your browser.
  • Opt-out signals. We honor recognized browser privacy signals, including Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a choice to keep advertising cookies off, so you don't have to change the setting yourself.

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block cookies, some parts of the Website may not work as expected.

4. The third-party services we use

Each service below handles your information under its own privacy policy. Analytics and advertising services only receive your data in line with your consent choices (see Section 3 — in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland that means after you consent; elsewhere, until you opt out).

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the Website — for example, which recipes are popular. It uses cookies and information like your IP address and the pages you view. Learn more in Google's privacy policy, or opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.

Google AdSense (advertising)

We show ads through Google AdSense. When you consent, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites (personalized advertising) and to measure how ads perform. You can see the ad technology providers Google works with on Google's list of ad tech providers. You control this in two ways:

  • Turn off analytics and advertising cookies — through the consent prompt in the EEA/UK/Switzerland, or the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer elsewhere — and
  • Adjust or turn off personalized ads at Google Ads Settings.

You can also opt out of interest-based advertising from many companies at aboutads.info/choices and youradchoices.com. More on how Google uses this data: How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Amazon Associates and other affiliate links

Baking It Beautiful participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and may use other affiliate programs. When you click an affiliate link, a cookie may record the referral so we're credited for any qualifying purchase — at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Hosting and infrastructure

We use trusted providers to host the Website, deliver it quickly and securely, and store our data — currently Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), and Cloudflare (content delivery and the spam protection described above). They process data on our behalf to keep the Website running.

Social media

We link to social platforms such as Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and X, and we may embed their content (for example, an Instagram post or YouTube video). When we embed content or you interact with a share button, that platform may collect information about you under its own privacy policy.

Apart from the consent-based ad personalization described above, we don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing.

5. How we use your information

  • Send you our newsletter and any updates you asked for.
  • Publish and manage your comments.
  • Respond to your questions.
  • Understand how the Website is used, so we can improve it (with your consent).
  • Show and measure advertising (with your consent).
  • Keep the Website secure and prevent spam and abuse.
  • Meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

6. How we share your information

We share information only:

  • With the service providers above, who process it on our behalf.
  • Publicly, when you comment — your name and comment are visible to everyone and may stay published.
  • To comply with the law — when required by law or legal process, or to protect our rights and safety.
  • In a business transfer — if the Website is ever sold or merged, your information may be part of the transfer.

7. Your privacy choices

  • Cookies — accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies through our consent prompt (EEA/UK/Switzerland) or the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer (elsewhere), and change your choice anytime from that footer link.
  • Newsletter — unsubscribe anytime with the link in any email, or email us.
  • Access or delete your data — email hello@bakingitbeautiful.com to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

If you're in California

California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect, to correct it, to request its deletion, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We don't sell your personal information for money, and we don't use sensitive personal information for purposes that would require a right to limit. The only "sharing" under California law is the use of cookies for personalized advertising — which you can turn off at any time using the Your Privacy Choices link in our footer, and through Google Ads Settings. We also honor recognized opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control (GPC), as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. To exercise any of your rights, email us at hello@bakingitbeautiful.com. If a complaint isn't resolved to your satisfaction, you can reach California's Consumer Information Center at (800) 952-5210.

If you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland

We ask for your consent before setting analytics or advertising cookies, and you can decline. You also have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email us at hello@bakingitbeautiful.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. How long we keep your information

  • Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe.
  • Comments — while the comment stays published, plus what we need for moderation, spam prevention, and security, unless you ask us to remove it and no legal exception applies.
  • Analytics data — in line with our analytics provider's retention settings.
  • Cookie-consent choice — remembered for one year.

9. Children's privacy

The Website is a general-audience food blog and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us at hello@bakingitbeautiful.com and we'll delete it.

10. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information. No method of transmitting or storing data online is completely secure, though, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

11. Third-party websites and ads

The Website links to other sites and shows ads from third parties we don't control. We're not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please review their policies before sharing information with them.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above, and we'll make significant changes clear on the Website. Please check back periodically.
